How to use iCloud or iTunes for backup and which one is better.

Sometimes while using your iOS device/or any device at that, you face situation where you need to do a full reset and then of course restore it back to original form or maybe you got a new iOS device and want to shift all your previous iOS data to the new one. iPhone has a very easy backup procedure in all these cases. You can either use iTunes or iCloud. Both are similar in technical work but deviate in practicality. iCloud automatically backups your device provided that iCloud's backup is turned on in your phone's settings (Access it in iOS 10 via settings>>iCloud>>manage storage or For iOS 11/12 go to Settings>>Apple ID>>icloud>>backup>>turn ON)

While iTunes requires you to do it manually i.e. you need to connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and hit backup once your phone is fully connected to your computer.

The annoying part is that iTunes takes time to backup (more if you go for encrypt backup) and sometimes your file can turn out to be corrupted with you being in dark where the hell the iTunes backup file went in your computer. Meanwhile, with iCloud, backup happens in the back-end and you can easily access your backup files on your iCloud desktop app whenever you want (go to iCloud desktop app>>manage storage>> backup).

RESTORE: The restoring procedure is almost similar with iTunes and iCloud except with iTunes, restoration occurs via USB connection instead of over WiFi like in the case of iCloud. USB connection may speed up the process but over the WiFi, restoration doesn't take much time either. It took me less than an hour to restore from my 1.6 GB backup--which is sort of a standard time.

CONS OF ICLOUD BACKUP: iCloud backup demands storage in iCloud as well, meanwhile you can just backup to computer via iTunes that wouldn't eat up precious iCloud space. So, if you are running out of iCloud storage, your phone will automatically stop backing up. You can clear this issue by buying iCloud which is sort of cheap considering its just $1 per month. Or if you don't want to buy it just backup using the alternative method (the iTunes).
